How To Lose Weight: Walk Effectively for Losing Weight Painlessly

By

Walking is a pleasurable activity. You can walk for a long time and still not feel tired out. You can take in the sights and sounds and enjoy your time spent walking. Walking is an effective way to lose weight steadily and gives you plenty of health benefits.

Mornings or evenings are ideal for a brisk walk. However, before you start walking at a fast pace you should warm up by walking at a leisurely pace for about 10 minutes. The objective of pace walking is to burn fat and therefore calories at a measured rate. After 10 minutes, you can increase the speed of walking steadily until you breathe fast without feeling discomfort. You should be able to feel your heart working. Walk fast as if you have a bus or a train to catch. Maintain this speed for about half an hour. Then you could slow down a bit and then restart the fast pace of walking. If it is not possible to go at that speed for half an hour at a stretch, you could break up the duration into smaller intervals to start with and as days pass, increase the duration.

When you walk at this pace, your body sources energy from the fat stores; you burn up calories and lose weight. Muscles, especially of the leg, get a good workout. There is improved blood circulation and the overall metabolism rate rises. A fall out is that when you start off your day with a brisk and extended walk, all throughout the day you will be burning more calories.

Quite a few people have adopted the speed method with success. In this method you simply warm and then walk as fast as you can for about a kilometer or so. Then you slow down a bit until your heart rate falls down and then walk fast again for the same distance. If you can, do this at least 3 to 4 times for maximum benefits. The speed method is hard to do and can be achieved after some time.

Many people, however, would prefer to walk at a steady pace, maintaining the speed of walking so that they are able to speak but with some effort. Punctuate the 30-minute walk with a brief 10 minutes of easy pace.

Be careful to wear the right shoes, as there will be a lot of stress on your foot and ankles when you walk fast. Stand up straight, look straight ahead, stomach drawn in, relax shoulders every once in a while, rotate hips front to back-not side to side and keep the chin up while walking. While walking, your heel touches the ground first, rolling up to the toe, which pushes you forward to the next step and towards reduced weight and overall wellness.

How to Lose Weight - The Only Real Way to Lose Weight!

By

Have you wanted to lose weight for a very long time, but you are unsure of how to correctly do this? Did you know that most diets are complete gimmicks and are just a marketing scheme? There are only a few real ways to lose weight and you need to know exactly how to lose weight if you want to actually do it. Here is one way to lose the pounds you want to lose.
First, you will have to make a commitment and without it you will never get to the weight you desire. You have to understand that even though they say you can lose a ton of weight in a hurry it is just not true. Sure they can help you flush off the water weight, but you really do need some of this and it is not going to stay off like if you lost fat.

Second, you are going to have to learn that with the concept of how to lose weight you will have to be active and exercise. Now this does not mean that you need to become a gym rat, but you will need to do some exercising. Most people need to do about 4 to 5 hours of good exercise a week to really cut the pounds. When it comes to how to lose weight this exercise needs to be about 75% aerobic and 25% strength training.

Last, you are also going to have to change your eating habits. We are not going to call this a diet because that word means that you have to eat things you probably do not like. Really the only rule of thumb to use with your eating is to eat natural things that are not refined or canned. Pre packaged meals are also very bad for you and if you can cut out the soda, then you will be cutting a lot of empty and unnecessary calories from your diet.

Who Invented The Cabbage Soup Diet And Who Cares

By

Most people who want to lose weight hear about the cabbage soup diet at least once in their life. This diet supposedly helps you to miraculously drop 10-15 pounds in 7 days. Many people when they first hear about this diet believe that it is "new" or "revolutionary" or even that it's some sort of "secret" diet. When in actuality, none of the above is true.

There are a lot of misconceptions about this diet, including the origins. Some sources claim that the diet was created by a famous doctor; some sources attribute it to respectable hospitals, etc…The diet did not come from a famous doctor or hospital. The true origins of this diet are unknown to this day.

This diet seems to have first surfaced in the 1980's. It spread quickly by fax machine. Once the internet arrived, it quickly spread that way. This is one of those fad diets that seems like it will never die or go away.

What is the cabbage soup diet?

The cabbage soup diet is a 7 day eating plan. The diet, as the name suggests, focuses around a soup which is comprised mainly of cabbage. The eating plan is below:

Day 1 - Cabbage soup and any type of fruit that you would like to eat, except for bananas.

Day 2 - Cabbage soup and any vegetables that you care to eat. You may also have a baked potato that has a small amount of butter on it.

Day 3 - Cabbage soup plus any fruits or vegetables that you care to eat, with the exception of potatoes or bananas.

Day 4 - Cabbage soup and bananas. You may eat up to 8 bananas. You may also drink as much skim milk as you want too.

Day 5 - Cabbage soup and beef. You may have up to 20 ounces of beef this day along with the cabbage soup. You may also consume up to 6 tomatoes.

Day 6 - Cabbage soup and unlimited beef. This day you can have as much beef as you care to eat. You can also have as many vegetables as you want, except for potatoes.

Day 7 - Cabbage soup and brown rice. You may also have any vegetables that you want this day, except potatoes. You may drink unsweetened fruit juice this day too.

It should be noted that you may eat as much of the cabbage soup that you want on any of the days. You must eat the cabbage soup at least 3 times per day. It should also be pointed out that there are some other variations of this diet.

The above may not be the exact cabbage soup diet that you may have stumbled upon. The main ingredients usually consist of the following: cabbage, onion, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, and seasonings. The ingredients for the cabbage soup also tend to vary.

Does this diet work?

Yes and no. The diet can work, if you actually stick to it for the 7 days. You are severely limiting your calorie intake. Given that you have to eat the same thing daily, will probably tend to make you want to eat less of the soup, which will even further restrict your daily calorie intake.

If you're expecting the weight loss to be long term, don't. Most of the weight you lose from this diet will be water weight, not fat. Once you resume your normal eating habits, the weight you lost will return. In fact, it is probable that you will not only gain the weight you lost while being on this diet, but you may even gain more weight. You could wind up heavier than before you started this diet after you resume your normal eating habits.

Is this diet safe?

No, it is not. It is highly recommended that you don't go on the cabbage soup diet. This diet is not nutritionally sound. You can actually become mal-nourished while on this diet. You should never eat under 1200 calories, unless you're being directed by a doctor. This diet can make you come dangerously close to consuming less than 1200 calories. Even though it is only a week, it is highly recommended you don't try this diet.

The cabbage soup diet lives on because there will always be an allure and an attraction to a diet that will help you to lose weight rapidly. The cabbage soup diet is not nutritionally sound nor will give you long term weight loss benefits at all. There are many other safe, nutritionally sound, diets out there that will help you to lose weight quickly and easily, if you put the effort into them.

Why Fad Diets Are Never A Good Thing

By

The truth about diets is that they do not work. If you have struggled with weight loss in the past like I have, getting rid of the fat permanently, I know you too have been through too many diet fads.

Why Diets Do Not Work

75% of why we over eat is mental, but diet programs never take this fact into account. And what about the bad eating habits we have developed over years and years. And even the emotional attachment some of us have to food. The truth about diets is that losing weight is one thing, but unless the root cause of the weight gain is dealt with, the weight will come back

Temporary dieting is just that, temporary. 85% of people that engage in these "Fad" diets gain back their weight within 6 months of ending the diet and usually surpass their original weight within a year.

The diet and fitness business is a trillion dollar a year business now you know why. Most people are always on the lookout for a "magic weight loss pill" so they try new fads hoping they will find it.

Decide to make a change in your lifestyle starting today. This is easier said than done, and it will not be smooth sailing all the way!

It's Time For a Mind Transplant

Changing the way we look at food and how we relate to eating, is the fist step in any lasting weight loss plan. The brothers Bill and Jim from The Biggest Loser talk about this in there "http://www.shockingfatlosssecret.com/weight-loss/truth-about-diets-reviewis-this-just-another-dieting-fad" Program and I agree with them Because it took years to develop these bad eating habits, this will not be "cured" overnight. Look at food as you source of nourishment, do not use food as a comforter.

You may need some professional help in dealing with any depression or emotional imbalance, before you start your weight loss program this should be dealt with.

Get rid of all junk food and all other refined, overly processed foods. Do not allow any snacks, candy bars or non-nutritious food of any type into your home. Plan a list of foods that are healthy, wholesome and nourishing that you can prepare. Get in the habit of buying most of your foods fresh.

Commit to Doing This for Life.

Keep in mind that this is lifetime makeover in your eating habits, not a fad diet. Therefore, instead of cooking white rice, use brown rice; in place of refined, white pasta, eat whole-wheat pasta; instead of snacking on a candy bar, grab a piece of fruit; instead of a sugary beverage, drink water; instead of ice cream, have some non-sweetened, chilled applesauce.

After 6 p.m., do not eat anything or hang out in your kitchen. Leave the kitchen and if you get "snackish," have some fruit or water. Be consistent and repetitive, this is how we replace bad habits with good ones. Do not beat yourself up if you fall off the wagon! Doing so will make you depressed and lead you to eat more. Just get up and resume where you left off before you dropped off the wagon.

Do Not Stuff Yourself!.

You should also pair eating healthy foods with restricting the amount of food you at any given time. Eating less should be done, but you do not want to starve yourself. The body goes into a famine mode if it thinks you are keeping it from food by skipping meals. If you do this, it will become an uphill battle to lose weight, the opposite of what we want.

To lose weight, you should eat two or three meals a day. Eat your meals at the same time everyday and try never to skip breakfast. To keep your portion sizes under control, you should eat breakfast like a king, between 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 a.m. (or earlier), lunch like a queen, around 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and dinner like a pauper, no later than 6 p.m. This approach trains you to eat smaller portions as you get later in the day

Try to get a baseline of the portion sizes when you first get started, measure the weight of your food and record it. Then over the course of 6 weeks, reduce the amount you eat by 40%. This must be done gradually over the 6 weeks. Most Americans eat over 100% more than they really need, so cut back on those portion sizes

We will not forget exercise, which is a must for keeping weight off. Exercise is a great big topic all by itself and I will talk about this in my nest article.

Proper Nutrition consistent Exercise, adequate Water, Sunshine, Temperance (everything in moderation) fresh Air, enough Rest and most importantly, Trust in God, is your ticket to a NEW START.

You should take a look at how Bill and Jim changed thier mind set in the http://www.shockingfatlosssecret.com/truth-about-diets/truth-about-diets-reviewprogram.

The GFCF Diet and How it Helps People with Tourettes

By

Many people diet each and every year. Some diet for personal reasons, others diet in order to lose weight, others diet to lower their cholesterol levels. Diets are now being used to do everything from reduce acne, to control diabetes, and even help control some disorders such as ADHD and even Tourettes.

The diet that is being used to help control some of the symptoms of Tourettes is the Gluten-Free, Casein-Free or GFCF diet. This is certainly not the first diet to attempt to control the symptoms of Tourettes; the other major diet that has attempted this is called the Feingold diet. The GFCF diet removes milk and wheat from the food consumed, while the Feingold diet removes artificial colors, flavors and some of the preservatives found in foods.

Typically, the idea of the GFCF diets is not a treatment that is generally recommended by neurologists or pediatricians. Most doctors prefer to treat disorders and illnesses using more researched methods instead. There are many different diets that have been proven to provide benefits to those suffering from disorders and complications. It is refreshing to some who seek relief in any form they can find it.

Many parents are confused as to exactly what a diet has to do with the signs and symptoms of disorders, specifically behavioral disorders. Typically, the answers lie in the fact that it is generally sensitivity to the particular food that triggers the behavior. A better example that most people can understand is an allergy to fish, or even nuts. Many people exhibit significant allergic reactions to these foods up to the point where death is even possible for some.

While death is never a common symptom it is something that can easily exhibit the severity that food allergies can truly reach. This is the same example with dairy and wheat products in relation to Tourettes. It is suspected that an allergy to these foods produces a chemical reaction that causes a chemical to be released that the brain reads as a neurotransmitter and causes the presence of the tics associated with Tourettes.

Just as most food allergies are only experienced by a few, the symptoms of Tourettes are also only experienced by a few that can be linked to food sensitivities. Not everyone has the same reactions to all foods, however dairy and wheat products are being discovered to be a very sensitive food to many who are suffering from severe Tourettes symptoms. Studies have shown that some reactions to food products can even cause children to be hyper, and have some muscle spasms.

Some of the major indicators that diet has an effect on these disorders is that many who are suffering have been noted to have decreased levels of some nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, and even magnesium. It is suspected that the deficiencies in these nutrients is also a factor affecting the symptoms that are experienced by those with Tourettes who see an improvement in their symptoms after beginning a diet such as the GFCF.

Experts who suggest the diet methods suggest slowly eliminating foods from the diet one at a time, so that you can accurately pinpoint the food that triggers the symptoms to spike. They suggest omitting the food from the diet for 4-7 days per food item, and very carefully monitoring the behavior changes that occur due to the food being removed. Some experts suggest replacing the food after you think you have found the trigger food so that you can see if you achieve the same results more than once. This is a good way to check the results.

One suggestion for those attempting to diagnose the food sensitivity themselves is to think back to early childhood days. If when your child was younger, they suffered sensitivities or allergies to specific foods then, it is recommended to cut those foods from the diet first since they may be the culprit of the problems now. This is not always effective, and does need to be done on a trial and error basis until the true food culprit is discovered. However, it should be noted, that no matter how much trial and error you do, you may not discover the food that causes your symptoms.

Not everyone who attempts the GFCF diet has success; however, it seems to be a very successful method that is perfectly natural. It is also a treatment method that does not involve heavy involvement from a doctor, which can mean medical bills are reduced. While it is possible to avoid the use of a doctor as much for those having luck with the GFCF diet they should still seek the advice of a doctor before beginning, or at the very least a nutritionist so that if problems occur they can be corrected quickly.

Remember that with any diet, there is likely to be some nutrients omitted that the body does need in order to be healthy. You must ensure that those missing nutrients are replaced in some form, whether by adding certain foods to your diet, or by the use of a nutritional supplement. Otherwise, you can run the risk of creating other symptoms that must then be treated.

While the GFCF diet is showing great promise in helping many who suffer from severe symptoms regain some control over their lives, it is not the perfect method that has been thoroughly tested. People should carefully do research to learn as much as possible before attempting this diet so that they know exactly what to do if a problem occurs and what results they should expect. It is also recommended that it not be attempted if you are unwilling or unable to track the symptoms with each food change to ensure you are able to accurately note the problem foods.

While care should be taken when attempting this method, there is, nothing that says it is unsuccessful or dangerous. Nevertheless, with any diet, it does have its risks that should be considered carefully before beginning. With proper planning, patience and a willingness to do the appropriate research, it is possible to greatly improve the quality of life of those who suffer from Tourettes.

Belly Fat Loss Food - What to Eat to Lose Belly Fat

By

In order to lose belly fat it is not enough to do some sit-ups or crunches. What you put into your mouth is of vital importance. Your nutrition determines how much fat will accumulate on your abs and how you fast you will be able to burn that fat.
So, what do you need to eat to lose belly fat?

1. Lean protein - Protein is very important as it's the building block of your muscles. However, not all protein is created equal and you must choose your protein sources to be as lean as possible to avoid eating fat along with the protein. Some lean sources of protein are: chicken breast, egg whites, turkey, and various fish like tuna.

2. Fruits and vegetables - not only are fruit and veggies rich in fibres, vitamins, and antioxidants, they are the perfect snack. Eating more of these will help you avoid the temptation of snacking on the wrong things

3. Complex carbs - Often, people who wish to lose weight look upon carbs as the enemy. They're not the enemy. In fact, they're a crucial part of your diet. However, you need to eat complex carbs which break down slowly inside your body and keep you full and energized for long periods of time. Such carbs can be found in whole flour or whole wheat bread.

4. Water - Dehydration is the enemy of weight loss. If you want to lose belly fat you need to drink enough water each day. 8 glasses at least is a good rule of thumb.

5. Good fats - Yes, there are good fats and they're a necessary part of your diet. Good fats can be found in olive oil, coconut oil, avocados, nuts, almonds, and seeds. You don't need to overeat good fats, but in moderation they're very healthy.
If you make sure to comprise your diet of these foods to lose belly fat you wil have a much easier time to tone your abs.

Fat Loss Food - Can Vegetables Actually Burn Fat?

By

Did you know that you unknowingly consume chemicals in the food and water supply that actually prevent you from burning your fat and resulting in weight loss?

You see, your body produces hormones that burn and store fat. In other words, there is fat loss food and foods that don't burn fat you can consume that stimulates hormones that either burns fat or stores fat.
For example, estrogen (actually it's a group of hormones, but I'll keep it simple), if over-produced, stores fat. But, as long as your body has the right balance of estrogen, you're okay (at least where estrogen production is concerned).

However, there are industrial-produced chemicals called xenoestrogens that can actually prevent you from burning fat because it has an estrogenic effect on you. These chemicals are in our food supply and water supply from agricultural practices.
Now that is disheartening. You could be working out like crazy and doing everything right to lose weight, yet, if you consume too much a chemical that prevents burning fat, you simply won't.

Is there a fat loss food that can help?
Possibly some types of vegetables can actually combat the estrogenic effect of the xenoestrogens you inadvertently consume.
The type of vegetables that possibly do this are those that are cruciferous, so named for the shape of its flowers (cross-shaped). Common cruciferous vegetables include broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, bok choy, kale, turnips, arugula, and radish - to name a few.

How do cruciferous vegetables act as a fat loss food?
Cruciferous vegetables are loaded with phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are chemical compounds that are produced naturally in plants, including cruciferous vegetables. To date, animal studies of one phytonutrient called indole-3-carbinol, found extensively in cruciferous vegetables, has shown some evidence that it can counter the estrogenic effect.
Accordingly, some believe that consuming cruciferous vegetables may combat any estrogenic effect in your body so that you don't store fat when you should be burning fat.

Vegetables aren't the only foods that may burn fat. Click here to discover more foods that burn fat. You can also click easy weight loss to learn more about burning fat.
